Art31 Borrowed Light - Closing Event
March 31, 2017
Art31 is a series of exhibits and art happenings that honors the Art & History Museums – Maitland (A&H) Maitland Art Center’s history as the Research Studio. In the spirit of experimentation and collaboration in modern art, the Research Studio welcomed luminaries such as Milton Avery and Ralston Crawford from 1937 – 1959.
The centerpiece exhibition of Art31, Borrowed Light provides a platform for artists working in the medium of “light-based installations” to collaborate and experiment in the galleries and on the grounds of A&H’s National Historic Landmark campus. As technology grows, the ability to create interactive lighting installations inspires artists to push the boundaries of materials and creativity. Join us on the final weekend as visual and performing art collide. Voci Dance will create a peform a new number that expresses how movement, light and nature can be seamlessly woven togehter during a live dance performance beneath the stately oaks in the A&H's gardens.
