United Arts seeks community volunteers to participate in grant-review panels!
Panelists are vital to the integrity of the grant review process. They bring their understanding of the arts, arts education, nonprofit management, and the community to evaluate each application. There are several opportunities to serve as a grant panelists throughout the year. QUALIFIED PANELISTS ARE:
- Flexible and Willing to Learn: panelists must be open-minded and willing to learn through the process.
- Ability to Assess: panelists must be comfortable discussing and assessing applications based on evaluations criteria and their own personal and professional experiences
- Objective and Fair: panelists must put aside personal biases and be fair in their assessments and recommendations.
Each panel will be chaired by a United Arts board member (non-voting, except in case of a tie) and will have an advisory member (accountant, CFO, auditor) to review financials.
PANELIST RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Declare any real or perceived conflicts of interest
- Review grant applications and supplemental materials before the panel meeting
- Includes giving each application an initial score and constructive comments
- Discuss each grant application at the panel
- Update scores if appropriate following panel meeting discussions
- Recommend grants for funding to United Arts’ Executive Committee and / or Board of Directors for final approval
