Agnes of God tells the story of a psychiatrist who becomes more in touch with herself and her view of the world while she is analyzing Agnes, a novice nun barley out of her teens who gives birth in the convent and is now accused of murdering her baby. She insists that the dead child was the result of a virgin conception. The psychiatrist and the mother superior of the convent clash during the resulting investigation over Agnes's mental and spiritual health, bringing about a dialouge on the contrasts between science and religion.
