An Evening of Tennessee Williams - Provocative Short Plays
An Evening of Tennessee Williams,” produced by the Queen’s Head Theatre, brings to life a collection of his one-acts including: Portrait of a Madonna featuring Miss Lucretia Collins, an aged southern belle who is convinced that the man she once loved, Richard, is sneaking into her New York apartment. The Chalky White Substance, is one of Williams’ later works, set in a post-apocalyptic world populated primarily by men. The play demonstrates Williams’ belief there are always business-like transactions and emotional compromises to be made in every kind of love relationship. And Green Eyes, written in 1970, but discovered as a series of rough drafts after the playwright’s death. Green Eyes, is noted as the “lost” erotic thriller, and takes the audience on a voyeuristic look into a New Orleans hotel room of just-married Mr. and Mrs. Claude Dunphy in this psychosexual drama.
