Downtown Arts District’s 2019 Female Curatorial Series
An Otherwise Invisible World
Curated by Flynn Dobbs
An empathetic exploration into discarded objects and secondary lives. Recognizing purpose and appreciation through nostalgic connection. Offering a human experience to the inanimate.
“I am a collector. A hoarder of scraps and parts, fascinated by the discarded and disregarded. Always curious about the lives these objects lived before me and the potential of what they could become. Mixing new material with old, bought material with found, and giving a literal face to the often unappreciated utilitarian objects throughout lives. Re-examining the facade, be it human or home, and what something as simple as a chair may mean to me or why it may command such a human connection.” – Scott White
