ART NIGHT OUT: STREET ART TECHNIQUES

MARCH 8, 2016 @ 6:00PM TO 8:30PM

Studio I

Instructor: Michael Owen

Interested in street art but don’t know where to start? In this workshop you will have the rare opportunity to work in an intimate small group environment with Baltimore-based artist Michael Owen. Owen will share various techniques he uses in his own large-scale works. This workshop is ideal for artists looking to move beyond the studio into larger works of art.

Michael Owen is a contemporary painter whose work is found across galleries and streets of the United States. His portfolio spans over 100 murals, from abstract to narrative, from small interior residential pieces to corporate and city commissions, to one of the world’s longest murals at a 1/4 mile stretch of road. He is best known for the Baltimore Love Project, a 20 piece project throughout Baltimore City. Michael has created work for Converse, Faberge, Hilton, Seagrams, and Ford among others, but his favorite jobs are the ones that bring him to the streets, where conversations with the everyman passing by revolve around beauty. You can find one of his most recent murals Floridia at Orange Avenue and Jefferson Street in Orlando.
