Art & History Museums – Maitland is delighted to host contemporary artists, Marie Yoho Dorsey as the first Artist-in-Residence of 2016. Her site-specific installations investigate the relationship between nature, design and memory. Stop by her studio on the A&H’s Maitland Art Center campus to see how she incorporates new media in to her designs. The Artist-in-Residence program honors the original artist colony mission of the A&H’s Maitland Art Center (originally called The Research Studio). Founder Andr? Smith created a retreat where artists could work collaboratively and experiment with new art forms. The Research Studio was a lively colony that hosted artists of national prominence, including Milton Avery, Ralston Crawford, Doris Lee and many others. The Center’s Artist-in-Residence program was re-launched in 2010 and welcomes American Artists for three, six and nine week residencies. Underwriting for Marie Yoho Dorsey’s residency is provided by The Balmoral Group and Alan Ginsberg.
