Ode to Beethoven: A 250th Birthday Celebration

Join Orlando Choral Society and voices of Opera Orlando for a stunning performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in Downtown Orlando.

We are very excited to bring Beethoven’s most iconic work to you in partnership with Opera Orlando this May 9th!

Join us as we celebrate the 250th birthday of Ludwig van Beethoven by presenting his seminal work! GRAMMY-Award winning Dr. Jeffery Redding will conduct Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with full orchestra featuring Orlando Choral Society, Opera Orlando, Orlando Chamber Orchestra, and local high school and church choirs.

This concert will include an exciting new piece called “A Silence Haunts Me”, by acclaimed composer Jake Runestad, which includes text from a letter that Beethoven wrote about his hearing loss (the Heiligenstadt Testament). Additionally, we will perform Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy featuring guest Concert Pianist Dr. Eddie Rothmel. The second half of the program includes an excerpt from The Creatures of Prometheus performed by the Orlando Chamber Orchestra and the 4th movement of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony featuring soloists and additional choristers from Opera Orlando.

Please purchase your tickets to make sure you get a seat. We look forward to celebrating the brotherhood of mankind with you!
