Bonsai Workshop

Presented by Modernism Museum Mount Dora at Modernism Museum Mount Dora, Mount Dora FL

Jan 24 2016
Bonsai Workshop

Bonsai is an illusionary reflection of nature produced under controlled conditions. In these stressful times, everyone could use a hobby that will temper the emotions, relieve tension, and provide physical and mental relaxation. Pleasure comes not so much from completing the work, for a bonsai is never truly finished, but from creating it. Bonsai is a living art and ever-changing: it may be thought of as a living sculpture. Through proper training and cultivation anyone can create a beautiful work of art more natural than nature itself.

For this workshop, will receive a pre-bonsai (grown for bonsai) Juniper to work with and take home. This 3 hour class will include discussion of the styling options of each tree and personal help from the teachers. You will learn to prune, wire and pot your tree. All tools will be provided.

Remember: A bonsai is not created in a single day, it requires years of constant care and patient training!

(Teachers David and Linda VanBuskirk own D&L Nursery (www.dlnursery.com), just outside Silver Springs in the Ocala National Forest. They offer monthly workshops along with specific variety workshops, as well as a full line of bonsai, pre-bonsai, pots, soil, and tools.)
