Conceptual Journeys

Artists approach their subject matter from many different angles.  They may visualize a finished piece in their minds eye or they may arrive at the finished piece in a more intuitive manner.  No matter how the final piece of artwork is arrived at it starts with a concept.

Peter Filzmaier draws his inspiration from people and nature. He takes that concept or feeling and creates paintings that are expressive in the use of color and presentation of the subject.  Peter’s artistic journey evolves through an acquired skill in technique that enables him to present his envisioned concept with an intuitive response that comes through in his work

Jack King seeks to create an equilibrium between the medium, the process and the idea.  He accomplishes this by forming a generalized concept then allowing the medium and the creative process, to impact the development of the final image.  Jack compares his artistic journey with Cuban rafters seeking sanctuary in the US. Although their journey is a physical one that takes place over water and his journey consists of overcoming the obstacles that come with creating sculpture, in the end they all have created an entirely new reality.

The artists in this show take the viewer on separate journeys, through concepts that are realized in wood and in paint.  The perfect artistic outcome is achieved through the conceptual journey.Artists approach their subject matter from many different angles.  They may visualize a finished piece in their minds eye or they may arrive at the finished piece in a more intuitive manner.  No matter how the final piece of artwork is arrived at it starts with a concept.
