Design & Tech Academy (Grades 7-12)

Learn the industry secrets of technical theatre, design, and stage management. This exciting and unique experience provides practical knowledge in a wide variety of technical areas, including scenic design and construction, stage lighting, sound design, property design and construction, costuming, and stage management. Taught by experienced, Orlando-area professionals, this hands-on summer intensive features seminars in technical production, design, and portfolio-building. In addition, students acquire practical experience guided by professional technicians in The REP?s scenery and costume shops, learning a multitude of useful skills. In an exclusive arrangement, participants in this extraordinary camp tour local attractions and receive special, behind-the-scenes experiences. This not-to-be-missed professional learning experience culminates with applied work on The REP?s Summer Stock production of Disney?s The Little Mermaid. An interview for the Design & Tech Academy is required. Interviews are the week of May 2. Design and Tech is limited and is open to students interested in any area of technical theatre, stage management, and design. If possible, please bring your portfolio (not required) to the interview.
