Discovery Day Event: Brevard Zoo–Restore Our Shores

Orlando Science Center is promoting their all-new Spark STEM Fest with a series of free events throughout the community.

How would you like to help improve the conditions of the Indian River Lagoon? One way is to join Restore Our Shores make gabions. Gabions are metal cages that will be filled with oyster shell and placed onto the bottom of the lagoon forming an oyster reef.

Volunteers ages 15 and over will be cutting metal and others will be bending the metal to form the gabions. All tools and instruction will be provided. Staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about Restore Our Shores projects or about the lagoon in general. See you there!

Volunteers need to be ages 15 and over and a volunteer waiver will need to be submitted in order to volunteer. Waivers will be emailed prior to the event.
