Exhibit: Perspectives in Process, by Featured Artist, Catherine Van Lancker

 

Jane’s Art Center’s featured artist for January 2021, is Catherine Van Lancker: a painter, printmaker and teacher, producing large landscape paintings, detailed etchings, and hand-colored watercolors.  She specializes in painting on location with oil on canvas, creating boldly colorful, semi-abstract landscapes.

Artist Van Lancker offered some thoughts about her exhibit, “Perspectives in Process,” stating, “For me, this body of work represents my freedom to be me.  Throughout my career, my art has evolved and transformed to fit where I was in my life.  Now I feel as if I am escaping the restrictions and expectations to which I have long been tied as an artist, shedding the bonds of thinking about what other people like or what I can sell.
