Exhibition - Art Legends of Orange County: The Art of Hal McIntosh
The Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens kicks off a county-wide, yearlong collaboration celebrating the Central Florida artists and patrons who helped shape our vibrant cultural landscape.
As the first host site, the Polasek Museum presents “Art Legends of Orange County: The Art of Hal McIntosh,” exhibiting from Tuesday, August 18, 2015 to Sunday, November 29, 2015. The exhibit will highlight the retrospective collection of Winter Park artist and local living-legend, Hal McIntosh. Guests are invited to enter the world of Hal McIntosh, where soothing colors and subject matter mingle with bold and modern compositions. Dynamic flowers, splashing coy, surrealist still lifes, thoughtful abstractions, and classic portraiture are subjects among this artist’s prolific and varied toolbox. From events such as the Winter Park Sidewalk Arts Festival and the Winter Park Paint Out, to exhibiting in the many galleries throughout town and becoming the first Artistic Director of the Albin Polasek Foundation, McIntosh’s success and artistic leadership have made him one of Winter Park’s most prominent Art Legends. After 36 one-man shows throughout Florida and Cape Cod, McIntosh once again dazzles, exhibiting old and new pieces side-by-side. Prepare to experience the beauty of serenity and the legacy found in each of Hal McIntosh’s paintings against the fitting stage of the Polasek Gallery.
Throughout 2015 – 2016, different host sites will feature the work of selected artists and patrons who have contributed to our visual arts community during the pivotal time period of c.1932-1982. Learn about Hal McIntosh and the other honored Art Legends of Orange County by visiting each host site and by exploring the complete project outline hosted through UCF’s RICHES program: http://riches.cah.ucf.edu/
Be inspired by local history and art, and by the extraordinary individuals who make Central Florida so much more than theme park, but a place of beauty and significance. This county-wide exhibition is a way to honor their contributions, highlight their body of work, and to connect links between our institutions through our shared story. Join throughout 2015-2016 as we celebrate Florida’s unique artistic flavor!
