Solace: The Art of Asking the Beautiful Question. Poet/Author/Lecturer David Whyte keynotes a weekend culled from his seven books of poems and four books of prose along with the insights of other poets—looking at the fruitful discipline of first finding, then asking, ever keener and more beautiful questions; questions that do not produce easy answers but which help us to re-imagine ourselves and reshape our identities as we grow and mature. David will be joined by ancient canticle singers Owen and Moley Ó Súilleabháin from Ireland. Born of English and Irish parentage, David Whyte engenders a readership in three normally mutually exclusive areas: the literate world of readings that most poets inhabit, the psychological and philosophical worlds of theological inquiry, and the world of vocation, work and leadership. David holds a degree in marine zoology that inspired research as a naturalist in the Galapagos and is currently an associate fellow at Oxford University’s Said Business School. David Whyte is sought the world over for his speaking engagements. Events will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church and Rollins College in downtown Winter Park. Since its inception in 2011, GladdeningLight’s symposium has taken place the last weekend of January.
