Learn more about the history of this profound genre through spirituals sung by members of the Bach Festival Choir and guest soloist Samuel McKelton. McKelton, lauded by The New York Times for the “natural elegance” of his lyric tenor voice, is dedicated to the preservation of the Negro Spiritual. He will perform some of his favorites and share his perspective their historical, cultural, and personal significance.
