Keri Lee Pierson, Soprano, performs "I Am Woman" at Timucua
This International Women’s Day concert will feature solo voice compositions written by female composers all performed by Keri Lee Pierson, a classically trained soprano, contemporary musician, scholar, and music educator.
This International Women’s Day concert will feature solo voice compositions written by female composers Cathy Berberian, Meredith Monk, Gilda Lyons, Susan Botti, Kamala Sankaram & Alex Temple. These works were chosen for their ability to empower and represent the talents of female singers. The concert aims to celebrate the strength and creativity of female performers and composers, and promises to be an evening of beautiful and inspiring music.
“Not only are these pieces for solo performer, they are composed by female singers,” says Pierson. “I chose this theming because as a female identifying singer, there is a lot of empowerment performing alone, at times with my own accompaniment, and in representing fellow females.”
