Keri Lee Pierson, Soprano : 'I Am Woman'

Keri Lee Pierson, Soprano, performs "I Am Woman" at Timucua

This International Women’s Day concert will feature solo voice compositions written by female composers all performed by Keri Lee Pierson, a classically trained soprano, contemporary musician, scholar, and music educator.

This International Women’s Day concert will feature solo voice compositions written by female composers Cathy Berberian, Meredith Monk, Gilda Lyons, Susan Botti, Kamala Sankaram & Alex Temple. These works were chosen for their ability to empower and represent the talents of female singers. The concert aims to celebrate the strength and creativity of female performers and composers, and promises to be an evening of beautiful and inspiring music.

“Not only are these pieces for solo performer, they are composed by female singers,” says Pierson. “I chose this theming because as a female identifying singer, there is a lot of empowerment performing alone, at times with my own accompaniment, and in representing fellow females.”

Keri Lee Pierson is a classically trained soprano, contemporary musician, scholar, and music educator. She currently is a Doctorate of Musical Arts student at Bowling Green State University where she collaborates regularly with her colleagues, instructors and The MidAmerican Center for Contemporary Music. Previously, Keri Lee lived and performed in the beautiful Saint Augustine, Florida, and was an Adjunct Instructor at Flagler College. She also taught young minds music reading skills and music history at Veritas Classical School, was a staff musician at Memorial Presbyterian Church, served as the Assistant Director of the St. Augustine Youth Chorus, and taught lessons to all ages and skill levels.
