Leviticus- Based on a True Story
The exciting return of the acclaimed, award-winning play from the Orlando International Fringe Festival.
This groundbreaking site-specific production merges modern queer comedy and provocative drama to explore themes of queer identity and religion. It poses the question of “What common ground can be found?” By opening its doors to this timely play, Audubon Park Covenant Church is also opening up a conversation vital to understanding the crossroads between LGTBQ+ and religious issues.
Summary: Levi Nolan is a precocious high-school lesbian who has always felt accepted by her liberal Christian denomination. But when she tries to become a youth leader, her beloved mentor cites Old Testament Bible verses preaching abomination and denies Levi the opportunity to move forward, forcing her to re-evaluate everything she believes about herself and her religion. Written and directed by Orlando native Ciara Hannon, Leviticus uses her real-life experience to explore universal issues happening within many church walls.
