Central Florida Railroad Museum

The Central Florida Railroad Museum is located in the historic 1913 Tavares and Gulf Railroad depot, one block south of Winter Garden’s thriving historic downtown and the West Orange Trail. The extensive collection contained within the museum includes local, state and national memorabilia and photographs of railway history including a large, world-class collection of dining car china and silverware, a 1938 Fairmont motor car, a velocipede hand car and more. Junior train enthusiasts will enjoy an HO scale model train layout and an interactive Thomas wooden train set. This FREE museum located at 101 South Boyd Street is open Tuesday through Saturday (except major holidays) from 11 am - 3 pm.

Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art

The Morse Museum houses the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848–1933), including the artist and designer’s jewelry, pottery, paintings, art glass, leaded-glass lamps and windows; his chapel interior from the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago; and art and architectural objects from his Long Island country estate, Laurelton Hall. The Museum’s holdings also include American art pottery, late 19th- and early 20th-century American painting, graphics, decorative art.

Joining the Orlando art scene this Summer is a brand new photography and contemporary art studio: Downtown Arts Collective. Downtown Arts Collective opens its doors on July 19th, boasting monthly exhibitions, a world-class facility and a community-focused mission to become the most accessible studio in Orlando. Resources at the studio include a 40 foot Cyclorama wall, Daylight Studio with various wall sets, Darkroom, Audio Recording Booth, Editing Station and even a Bar and Lounge-area for artists to relax, unwind and share inspiration. Downtown Arts Collective will also host various workshops for artists to teach skills such as digital photography, studio lighting and much more. Every third Thursday of the month, Downtown Arts Collective will host a new exhibit featuring talented artists and photographers from Orlando and abroad. An International Photography Exhibition opens July 19th, showcasing work by photographers from around the world. The Downtown Arts District is a dedicated nonprofit organization for advancing arts and economic development in the City of Orlando. Established in 2000, the Arts District represents and serves the arts community by providing promotional and financial assistance to art and cultural venues, public art projects, and signature events. Comprised of a series of cultural communities, the Arts District encompasses the visual arts, literature, the performing arts including music, drama, film, dance, and arts and culture-related retail businesses. The Downtown Arts District operates and manages CityArts. Located in the historic Rogers Kiene building, it is the hub for the arts in Central Florida. CityArts is equipped with 6 individual art galleries, a cafe space, two working artist studios, and a public art courtyard. FilmSlam

Please join us at the Orlando Museum of Art! FilmSlam has been Central Florida's only consistent, public screening event for Florida's local, independent filmmakers. The Healthy West Orange Arts and Heritage Center is committed to preserving Oakland’s past, present and future with rotating exhibitions featuring local artists. Community events at the Center include 4th Fridays Music on the Porch, and Trees of the Season where visitors can vote for the best decorated tree from local businesses and institutions, and more. The Center supports the mission of Healthy West Orange, a grassroots movement to inspire west Orange County to become the healthiest community in the nation. Working with its partners, the Center will provide important tools and social connections to help residents eat well, stay active and enjoy life. This project is funded in part by a $1 million lead grant from the West Orange Healthcare District, as well as funding from Orange County Government through the Arts & Cultural Affairs Program and countless other donors.

Whether you are a resident of Central Florida or one of our many visitors from around the world, you can spend an enjoyable day at the Pioneer Village and History Museum. At Pioneer Village, explore historic homes of early Osceola County settlers, sit in a one-room schoolhouse, examine the workings of citrus packing house, ponder the daily routine of a Florida Cracker cow man at the cow camp, and visit the general store. Pioneer Village is located in Shingle Creek Regional Park offering walking and biking trails, kayak launch, picnic areas and a playground. The Osceola County Welcome Center & History Museum features exhibits showing the evolution of the region’s environment including early Seminole life, wildlife in the Florida pines and swamps, the cattle industry, and the rise of modern transportation and tourism. Researchers will enjoy browsing our genealogical records or historical maps and archives. (Appointment required for archives visit.) Teachers can lead their students through a living history experience at our site. Since 1949, our mission has been to preserve Osceola County's rich past while sharing it with others.

This popular Gallery in Winter Garden Florida features Monthly Exhibitions from Artists in the Central Florida area. The Wells Built Hotel has been converted into a modest museum housing memorabilia of Orlando’s African-American community and displays on the Civil Rights movement along with some African art and artifacts. This historic museum is located in the center of Orlando’s historic Parramore district at 511 West South Street. Dr. William Monroe Wells built the hotel and a nearby entertainment venue for African Americans visiting Orlando. During the Segregation era, this hotel served as host to several now infamous African American performers. On February 4, 2000, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Although African Americans were taxpayers like other residents of Orlando, they did not have access to recreational facilities, good schools, police protection, health care and other services that were provided to white citizens. This led him to build the South Street Casino and the hotel next door after being issued a building permit in 1924 and ’26. Dr. Wells erected the Wells’ Built Hotel to provide lodging to African Americans during an era of segregation when accommodations were not available to them in other areas of Central Florida.
