Brevard Watercolor Society, Inc.

The first meeting of the Brevard Watercolor Society, a nonprofit organization located in Melbourne, Florida, was held in January, 1995 with seventy interested artists in attendance. On January 29, 2007, membership had reached 267, making BWS the largest county watercolor society in the United States. The purpose of the Society is to encourage and bring together those artists who enjoy the medium, to exchange ideas, and to help familiarize one another with the different water media painting techniques. Only an interest in watercolors is required to be a member, and the expertise of the members varies from beginner to master painter. The Society also enhances the medium in the eyes of the public and educates it to its beauty. Meetings are held on the second Saturday of every other month at 1 p.m. at the Satellite Beach Civic Center, Cassia Blvd., Satellite Beach. The meetings are open to the public. However, a $4 donation to the Society by nonmembers is appreciated. At each meeting, a demonstration is given by a top artist and a two-day workshop is usually offered by the artist demonstrating that month. See our calendar page for a schedule of upcoming meetings, demonstrations, and workshops. As well as bringing top artists to Brevard County, we provide scholarships to art students and provide watercolor shows.
