Water Music

“When I am asked by viewers, I tell them about an epiphany I experienced while meditating on the impending death of my father. I became aware of a big, older woman playing in the surf like a child, and her exuberant joy lifted my spirits out of my despair. From that time forward, my paintings have centered on the simple joys of living. I use all the skills of my muse to make the viewer feel the warmth of the sun and the coolness of the sea like the touch of a friend or relative bringing love and happiness. This is the same sense I tried to evoke in ‘Water Music’ and ‘Wings on the Water.’” – Beth Ann Carver
